HOW TO WATCH
TEAMS
#5 William Carey (MS) 30-7/19-2 – You cannot go far in a conversation about NAIA Baseball before talking about legendary Head Coach Bobby Halford, who is now in his 40th season at the helm of this Crusaders program. This season has been no different, as the Crusaders enter this contest ranked #5 in our latest media poll and have impressed all season long. WCU boasts one of the nations best offenses, and that begins with Josh Alexander who is second nationally with 64 RBI along with a team leading 14 home runs. With a lineup that features 8 hitters with a .300+ average, the bats will be the key for the Crusaders on the road this weekend as they look to make their push towards yet another SSAC Championship. Both Luke Lycette and Bobby Magee have been incredible in 11 and 13 appearances on the mound so far this season, however they have each not made a start. Look for William Carey to rely heavy on their bullpen arms especially against a very potent Faulkner lineup.
#10 Faulkner (AL) 28-8/16-5 – In the other dugout will be another blue blood program in the Faulkner Eagles, who are led by Patrick McCarthy in his 15th season. The 2013 National Champions have missed out on Lewiston the last two seasons, an extremely abnormal drought considering they had made nine straight World Series appearances from 2013-2022. This 2025 campaign feels different with another dangerous lineup led by Eduarny Martinez and his 17 home runs, a mark good for 5th in the country. Martinez also holds a .417 average and leads the team with 48 RBI and the Eagles will be counting on him to continue his stellar performance at home this weekend. The x-factor for both of these teams will come on the mound, and Faulkner is led by one of the most electric arms in the country in Marco Ozuna Jr. The right-hander has struck out 49 hitters this year to only 9 walks in 50.2 innings and he should get the ball on Friday night under the lights in Montgomery. This one has all the makings for an epic series between two of the nation’s elite programs, and you all will surely not want to miss a single pitch.
