Both teams have had a remarkable season thus far and look to add on to an already great season. History Georgia Gwinnett leads the all time series 7-1, however it was William Carey who came on top when they faced off last season winning 5-4. Their .333 average is 4th in the Southern States Athletic Conference, and WCU pitching staff leads the conference with a 4.75 earned run average. William Carey (MS) is coming off a weekend where they dominated Mobile, and have won 10 straight weekend matchups. Preston Ratliff and Rigoberto Hernandez are two of the Crusader bats to watch in this series, they both lead the team in hits. But Josh Alexander leads the team in runs batted in this season, he also has 13 long balls, and 26 total extra base hits. On the mound eight different arms have made a start this season, with the most belonging to Andrew Shirah, Conner Wilson, and Matthew Davis. WCU is 16-2 at Milton Wheeler Field this season. #3 Georgia Gwinnett (28-3)- The Grizzlies are 2nd in the nation in team average with a solid .367 team average, and an insane .523 team on-base percentage. Their pitching staff ranks 7th nationally with a team earned run average of 3.78. There is no lack of star power on this GGC team, Ponder, Harrell, Meguiar, Winland Jr, The Seeker brothers, Lee, Cobb, Norton, Harris, and the list could go on and on. This is a matchup of two programs who have done exactly what's been expected of them to do this season. Series matchup wise this will be the best test in a weekend series this year for the Grizzlies, but they sure have an opportunity to make a statement of a week since they already have a road win over #7 Tennessee Wesleyan.
