
Bellevue (NE) – Frontier – Bellevue University has been named NAIA Ball Team of the Week after a four-game conference stretch against Dickinson State University, Mayville State University, Bismarck State College, and Valley City State University. Bellevue handled four different opponents across the week, completing a sweep with consistent production on both sides.
In game one, Bellevue secured a 9-2 win over Dickinson State. Xavier Lerma led the offense with two home runs and five RBIs. Kenji Miller threw eight innings, allowing five hits, one run, one earned run, and one walk while striking out six to earn his fifth win of the season and improve to 5-1.
Game two resulted in a 14-9 win over Mayville State. The Bruins hit three home runs, including two solo shots from Oak Held and Mason Spellecy, along with a two-run home run from Ayden Makarus. Brody Burnette recorded the save, throwing 0.2 innings with no hits, runs, or walks and two strikeouts for his ninth save of the season.
In game three, Bellevue earned a 3-2 win over Bismarck State. Carter Claerhout delivered a two-RBI single in the third to tie the game, and a throwing error in the fifth gave Bellevue the lead. Burnette returned to secure his tenth save of the season, tying him for the national lead.
In game four, Bellevue completed the sweep with a 12-3 win over Valley City State. Lerma added another home run as the Bruins finished with 12 runs on 12 hits to close out the week.
