Pitcher of the week
Sean Heppner – University of British Columbia (CAN) – Setting records is always cool, especially
when it helps your team win. Sean Heppner did both this week for the Thunderbird of British
Columbia. On Friday night, the Junior right-handed pitcher pitched 6.1 innings in which he gave up
just one hit, one run (earned) and one walk, while striking out sixteen. Fanning sixteen batters in one
game had not been done before in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, making it a historic night for
Sean Heppner who now holds that record. Heppner and the rest of his pitching staff got plenty of
run support in this 11-5 victory. The University of British Columbia would end up sweeping the four-
game series versus The College of Idaho.
