Team of the week
LSU Shreveport competed in the Cajun Collision in Sterlington, LA this past weekend. They went 4-0 beating Mobile, Oregon Tech, Science and Arts and St. Thomas. That’s how they earned this weeks NAIA Ball Team of the Week award.
The game against Mobile was won by the score of 6-4. Christian Hobbs played a big role, coming in to pinch-hit in the sixth inning and going deep to drive in three runs with a homerun. The second game of the day on Thursday was versus Oregon Tech. In the 4-1 victory for the Pilots, first baseman Angel Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun. On the mound, starting pitcher AJ Fritz threw four shutout innings.
On Friday, versus the Drovers of Science and Arts, AJ Fritz had another good day. This time not on the mound, but in the batter’s box. He went 4-for-4 and went yard once. LSU Shreveport won this game 8-4. The last game for the Pilots in the Cajun Collision was versus St. Thomas, they ended up winning this one 4-3. Isaac Rohde earned the win after six innings of work, Alex Gonzalez came in to close out the game. Fritz had another good game at the plate, collecting two hits and two RBIs.
