Huntington – The Foresters have been surging so far to start the 2026 season as they enter this
matchup looking to defend Forest Glen on a 12 game win streak and an overall record of 14-1.
Head Coach Thad Frame enters his 4th season leading the Foresters program after a historic
playing career in the Foresters uniform playing under his father and former Head Coach Mike
Frame. This year’s team has been led by one of the nation’s best pitching staffs to this point with
a team ERA at 3.03 so far. The starting rotation has been electric due in large part to RJ Anglin, a
RHP who was named Crossroads League Newcomer Of The Year back in 2024. Anglin features
a fastball up to 96mph along with a devastating changeup and slider combination that has him
tied for 8th in the nation with 37 K in just 23 IP so far. Grant Simmons leads the staff with a 1.93
ERA and a WHIP at 0.64. Both guys along with freshman LHP Max Engle have only combined
to issue 16 BB in 66.1 IP and they will need to continue their impressive starts in order to come
out victorious this weekend. On the offensive side, the lineup will get their toughest test to date
with this vaunted Taylor pitching staff, however you do have to like their chances considering
they hold a team average of .324 which is good for 14th in the country. Freshman phenom
Tanner Reinhartz already has 6 HR so far in just 44 AB’s, and he’s done it with a pair of 3 HR
games. The lineup will need to continue to swing the bats well, but at home in Forest Glen seems
to have treated them well up to this point.
Taylor – If you follow NAIA Baseball at all, you’ve become very familiar with the Taylor
Trojans and how consistent of a winner Head Coach Kyle Gould has built in Upland, Indiana.
Much like their counterpart this weekend in Huntington, this Taylor pitching staff has a very
strong argument for being the best rotation in the country as well. Wes Hunt and Brody Fine are
both electric arms, as Hunt has an ERA at an even 1.00 in 18 IP while Fine is right behind him
with a 1.44 ERA in 25 IP. The Trojans can roll out a plethora of arms that are capable, but these
two will be the premiere names to watch for this weekend on the road against a very good lineup.
Speaking of lineups, this Taylor squad boasts a team average of .340, good for 9th in the country
and have scored 186 runs in their 17 games so far. Brayden Manning has played like a Top 10
player in all of the NAIA so far, and will go down as one of the most prolific players to wear the
Trojan uniform which says a lot in that program. So far in his senior season, he’s leading the
charge with a .394 average and 11 extra base hits while only striking out 7 times in 71 AB’s.
Luke Sutter and Fletcher Roemmich both already have over 20 hits on the year like Manning,
and throughout this entire lineup you will be challenged to find anyone that is considered to be
an easy out. With a veteran led ball club like Taylor has, you like their chances to win against
anyone at any ballpark in the country.
